A while ago I got a very nice set of tools for making small clay pieces. For those not familiar with the clay tools of the art world, they are made from hardened clay, so you don't just carve in it, you cut and scrape with them, as if it was stone, making shapes from a slurry of clay and water.
A few weeks later I came across a book that mentioned these tools. It was very interesting, but also quite disappointing, because all I had to make was a few pieces in a few styles, and I didn't want to bother looking at any more.
But recently, I made one of these tools, a very fine tipped one, and was just thinking how it would look if you made the handle out of bone or a horn. Then, one day, it dawned on me: it just would.
I've started working on some figures that I think would be fun to make. They are more the style of the big clay pieces of yesteryear, but they have a certn riness to them. I've made a bunch of little figures, from simple little clay animals to an early attempt at a human figure. I've used the little clay tools to make the faces and the forms, and then I've made a very simple process to make the heads and limbs. I just glue the head on a head stand and glue on a pr of arms or legs.
I think I have some fun things planned.
Oh, yes, and the cat is just getting settled into a new house. She's now in her own room and is a little bit more domesticated than she was in her old house. She still doesn't like to come out of her room, even though we made a small cat door for her, and she keeps coming in when we're not there.

My wife and I are visiting with family for the first time since we were married in November. This is the first time we have been together since Thanksgiving, and for the first time in five years that I haven't had to be in a place with lots of other people. I'm having fun playing with the kids. The youngest of them, who has always been my son, is a good big brother. The second oldest, who has always been my daughter, is great fun as well. My wife
